(From ThirdPotato) The following is based on my own experience having graduated scad 2010. Hopefully this'll be of some use to you.
Graduated from SCAD too? Senior or Junior or local? Join in the conversation and let some of the new comers get to know the area!
If you can live off campus its cheaper but slightly less safe; If you can get into boundary and not be on the meal plan it's cheaper and better living conditions... Hmm. When buying supplies for college ie: kitchen/food ware, cleaning supplies, bedding & waterboiler/ricecooker, go to Big Lots on Abercorn rather than walmart. There's a Keller's Flea Market, one of the LARGEST flea markets; there you can buy cheap socks, dvds, video games, bras (lol, if you're big sized anyway), and more. They also have puppies there (AKC approved). Ummmmmm.... OH art supplies *rolls eyes* XD Get them on Jerrysartaramma.com or Dickblick (google that one, I forget if its dickblick.com or with a hyphon). Textbooks o_o buy them on amazon. get your list in advance, and buy on amazon used. Their "sell back" program is notoriously shitty.
Primary Art store is slightly better than ExLibris, but just bout the same stuff. If you're looking for good places to eat, man. Feel free to ask me anything bout the city. I know all the nooks and crannies. XD
Best Burgers: B&D Burgers or Locos
Best Subshop: Lenny's Subs on Broughton
Also on Broughton: Saigon (amazing thai food), Sakuras (cheapest sushi ever, most notoriously rude service however)
Abercorn St: Little Ceasars $5 pizza (and best cheesey bread EVER.), Taco Bell (always great service and fresh food in my experience), another B&D's, and more!
The McDonald's on MLK: Don't be afraid, it ain't that bad, but if you're new to the area, I don't recommend it.
omg Shabazz: Let me tell you XD it's scary as sh*t, they have barred windows, run/established by the black panther party dude Shabazz, and in a tiny shack the size of a single person bedroom, but their BEAN PIE is off the chain. Worth checking out with friends if you want to be bold and say you went there. Also on MLK, by McDonald's.
There are also plenty of thrift stores in downtown Savannah, great for any things you may need: jacket, jeans, props for crap, even some knitting/craft supplies sometimes in the back. There's one right offa broughton that's a christian thrift store. They got some good stuff, but their prices've been on the rise. Goodwill on Broughton (everything's on broughton... XDD) AND fantastic antique stores all around, the best being the one at the start of river street.
Parking tips: If you want to park on River Street, it's best to walk, but park by the film students area, or the river club. If you're starting from the other end of River street, park at Norris Hall (sequential building wootwoot). Learn how to parallel park o_o srsly. That's all there is there. Also... BRING. LOTS. OF. QUARTERS.
Srsly. Go to the bank, get a $50 in quarters. For laundry, parking, vending machines and more. Savannah's like. run on quarters. XD
Laundry is $1 to wash $1 to dry, the dryers don't always work -_- so plan accordingly. I would bring 2-3 weeks worth of clothes to save.

Help a SCAD prof who's being sued!
SEQA Professor Michael Jantze has started an Indiegogo campaign to help finance a frivolous lawsuit levied against him.
From his fundraising page:
As artists, who hasn’t asked us to wait for payment? Draw for free? Write for a future percentage? Take a reduced salary? Create intellectual property in a work-for-hire case?
I have accepted this idea for the LAST TIME. And more importantly, this lawsuit is saying I owe him money. You can read the complaints on the Chatham County Court website. It’s frivolous, and I will not stand for bullying.
I invite all SCAD bees (not just the Sequential students) to take a look at his fundrais
SCAD students collaborate on a comic!
(From !RLFedun (https://www.deviantart.com/rlfedun)'s journal)
Hey I Did A Comic
That's probably unfathomable, right? Believe it or not sometimes I get paid to do them.
Haha anyway this is what I spent last month/I forget how much time before that doing for Matthew Smith, a writer/artist/independent publisher/fellow ex-SCADdie.
Five-Page Preview Here: http://mdsmithcomics.blogspot.com/2012/07/5-page-preview-simon-says-3.html
It's a slice-of-life coming-of-age story that involves teenage friendship/romance issues, and a lot of awesome 90's bands. The cool thing about the series is that there's a different artist for each issue, which not only made the book fun to work on
